Ayanna Witter-Johnson

The artist, nominated for a MOBO Award and recognized for her unique combination of soul, jazz, folk music and Caribbean influences, will present material from her latest album New Roots.

It is an extremely personal story about identity, memory, spirituality and the search for one's own roots. In her compositions, Ayanna combines mesmerizing vocals with masterful cello playing, creating a sound full of emotional depth and subtle strength. Songs such as “You Can Have Everything”, “Equinox” and “Pioneers” lead listeners through reflections on heritage, history, freedom and finding balance in a changing world.

She has collaborated with Andrea Bocelli, Peter Gabriel, Nitin Sawhney and Anoushka Shankar, among others, and her work was supported by Gilles Peterson and Jools Holland. The concert in Jassmina will be the only opportunity in Poland to meet one of the most versatile and original figures of the contemporary music scene.
