Back to Amy — AMY WINEHOUSE MEMOIR

BACK TO AMY — more than a tribute!

This is an emotional musical show in a jazz & soul atmosphere, inspired by the work of AMY WINEHOUSE.

15 years since the death of Amy Winehouse. 20 years since the release of the groundbreaking album BACK TO BLACK.

It was at this symbolic moment that a project was created that goes far beyond the formula of a classic tribute concert.

The BACK TO AMY show is a directed, musical show, created out of love for an artist who forever changed contemporary music. It is a carefully designed stage experience in which music, image, light and emotion form one mesmerizing whole. This evening begins even before the first sound emanates from the stage. From the entrance to the foyer, viewers will be immersed in a world inspired by the aesthetics of soul, jazz clubs and concert energy of the 60s. Pulsating rhythm, subtle musical motifs and gradually building tension will make the line between concert and theatrical performance begin to blur.

SABINA KARWALA will perform on stage — actress and singer, endowed with an extremely characteristic, dark tone of voice, recognized as one of the most expressive interpreters of Amy Winehouse's repertoire in Poland.

The artist will direct the show herself, using her stage experience, theatrical sensitivity and great attention to every detail.

BACK TO AMY impresses not only vocally and musically, but also visually. Characteristic neon BACK TO AMY, red carpets building an intimate space for musicians, original stage costume, light, narration and carefully graded emotions make the concert a full-scale stage experience. Musically, the project goes much deeper than Winehouse's repertoire itself. Alongside her greatest works, we'll also hear inspirations from artists Amy loved and admired and those she has had a huge impact on herself — from ARETHA FRANKLIN and ELLA FITZGERALD to today's RAYE. The ensemble is complemented by specially prepared arrangements by the outstanding pianist, composer and arranger ADAM JARZMIK.

“The project BACK TO AMY is the fulfillment of a dream that was born in me and Magda (1/2 Operafixe) many years ago. If it weren't for Amy Winehouse, I probably never would have started singing, so I'm so happy to be able to pay tribute to her in this way. We will do everything we can to make Amy's work sound as beautiful as possible!” — says Sabina Karwala.

“This will not be an ordinary concert. It will be an evening full of emotion, nostalgia, elegance and music that still moves millions of people around the world to this day!” — says Magdalena Marek/operafixe

THE ORGANIZER OF THE EVENT IS OPERAFIXE.
