Six months after Frank Zappa's death in 1993, a German jazz festival contacted a group of former members from Zappa's various touring bands and asked if they would perform with a tribute concert. They performed under the name Band from Utopia, which later became Banned from Utopia. Since then, a live release has followed, own albums with Zappa-written and -inspired music, and now a Scandinavian tour that takes them past Bremen Teater in October 2026.
