Very Discussive Film Club: Sandra Hüller's Great Roles — Rose (screening and discussion)

Her creation in “Toni Erdman” without hindrance can be called outstanding. Like the one in “Anatomy of the Fall”, for which she received an Oscar nomination. Further productions - “Zone of Interest”, “The Hail Mary Project” and “Homeland” sealed her position in the forefront of world acting. For her most recent performance in the film “The Rose”, she received this year's Silver Bear at the Berlinale for best leading role. Or is it also the case that extreme precision and cool self-control sometimes deprive her characters of spontaneity? We will talk about the great roles of Sandra Hüller on Wednesday evening as part of the BDKF.

FILM DESCRIPTION At the beginning of the 17th century, a mysterious soldier (Sandra Hüller) arrives in an isolated Protestant village. The inhabitants look upon him with suspicion, but over time — through hard work and impeccable piety — he gains their trust and becomes part of the community. But beneath a man's mask and trousers is a woman who, in defiance of her social destiny, has assumed the role of a man in order to gain freedom and independence.

The Very Discussive Film Club is a return to the idea of a film meeting, during which the discussion between the participants after the screening is as important as the film screening itself. We would like to invite all local cinema enthusiasts to talk. We believe that the chosen repertoire will only be the starting point for a wider discussion, in which the voice of the audience is the most important.
