The child behind the diagnosis/free talk in Asta Bar

Mathias Vinsten Munk's entire childhood was marked by distrust, school visits and encounters with psychiatry. Today, he is 20 years old and lives with autism, ADHD and OCD — and works as a child and youth mentor at a treatment and special education school.

Mathias can tell about the days when impotence became so great that he threw chairs, and about what happens when a child can no longer accommodate the demands that are being made. But he also talks about what can happen when the child is finally seen, heard and listened to.

Mathias gives a rare insight into how distrust and diagnoses can be experienced from the young person's perspective — and what the adults around them can do differently.
