On the occasion of Children's Day, we invite young listeners to a fairytale concert of symphonic music performed by the NFM of the Wrocław Philharmonic. Hans Christian Andersen's nightingale is a work inspired by personal experiences. The Danish writer fell in love with Jenny Lind, a singer known as the Swedish Nightingale. Delighted with the voice of the artist, he created a fairy tale, the action of which takes place somewhere in distant China.
Just before sunrise, on the seashore, the fisherman hears a crystalline singing that allows him to forget his worries. He also learns an unusual story, and when he returns home, he passes it on to the children. This is the story of a Chinese emperor who, despite his wealth and power, feels very lonely: no courtly entertainments, a porcelain palace or a beautiful garden full of flowers bring him pleasure. One day, the monarch hears a concert performed by a nightingale. An inconspicuous little bird sings so wonderfully that it touches all listeners. His enchanting voice is talked about all over the country until the emperor receives a gift — a golden nightingale music box: it is beautiful, intricately made, but still artificial... Then the ruler forgets about the true friend who so far moved him so much and soothed him with his singing.
How this tale of truth that moves hearts ends, listeners will find out during the concert. To find out the details of the events at the imperial court, the narrator will involve both children and adults. We invite you to a colorful meeting with art, full of hidden sound surprises, during which children will learn how important it is in life to look and listen carefully.
