Tales of a Thousand Nights of the Living Dead | Horror Day 2026

Zombies, living corpses, undead, ghouls. Whatever the name, it is always bloodthirsty monsters that were once living people, who herald the end of civilization. However, this was not always the case. Originally zombies as a concept originated in Haitian folklore and more than something apocalyptic zombies were something magical. Their Armageddon-heralding destructive character was given to them only in the 20th century by pop culture, especially films contributed heavily to this. We will learn more about such films and about all the folklore related to zombies at the presentation of Jan Sienkiewicz.

In addition, after the performance, a screening of the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead directed by George A. Romero is scheduled, which has permanently influenced the way zombies are portrayed in popular culture and set the direction for the development of the entire horror subgenre.
