Bass Drum of Death is an American garage rock band from Mississippi, started by songwriter and guitarist John Barrett. The project began as a one-man project, with Barrett recording the initial releases on his own before Bass Drum of Death evolved into a fixed constellation and began touring internationally.
Since their 2011 debut album GB City, Bass Drum of Death have made their mark with their raw mix of garage rock, punk and lo-fi rock. The band's sound is characterised by fuzzed guitars, raw riffs and a mix of garage rock's grimy energy and strong melodic grips.
With several album releases behind it — most recently Say I Won't from 2023 — Bass Drum of Death has built a distinctive name on the alternative rock scene. The band is known for their direct approach to songwriting and energetic live shows, where they pull threads between classic garage rock and modern punk-inspired rock.
