Sensible diet, daily exercise, no cigarettes and limited amounts of alcohol. Most of us know the common advice for a healthy lifestyle. But the long healthy life without illness is also about optimism, breaks, awe, wine, volunteering, sleep, hanging out with good friends and more.

Science's answer to a long life
Bente Klarlund Pedersen works scientifically and gives us the overall recipe for a long healthy life. If we want to hold on to the fountain of youth, we don't just have to eat broccoli and exercise regularly. We must also avoid worrying unnecessarily and focus on what makes sense - family, friends, volunteerism, optimism, believing in something, and not least let ourselves be excited.

Youth is not something we buy
Bente Klarlund has a clear ambition for the voice of science to drown out and trump the commercial and pop healthcare industry. We must not think that youth is something that can be bought in the form of expensive supplements and anti-aging products. Instead, science must help ensure that we live well and long without throwing money out the window for ineffective, potentially dangerous products.
