The conversation after the session will be led by Karolina Wierel — cultural scholar, researcher of cultural narratives and affectivity. For years she has been cooperating with film events as a moderator and leading meetings with the audience, including as part of the Young Horizons Education (MHE) series and Discussion Film Clubs (DKF). She specializes in interpreting cultural texts and animating dialogue around cinema in social and cultural contexts. MFFK selector ŻUBROFFKA.

On a remote southerly windswept island off the coast of Chilean Patagonia, Silvia lives a quiet life alongside her partner, making a living from collecting algae. One day she finds an abandoned female and gives her the name Yuri — the one she would have chosen for her desired daughter.

A deep bond with an untamed animal fills the void left by an unfulfilled desire for motherhood. Their relationship becomes the beginning of an unexpected confrontation in which love and tenderness clash with anger and painful memories of the past, from which Silvia has tried to escape for years.

La Perra is a subtle, tense psychological drama about what we hide under the surface of everyday life. About love and rejection. About trying to tame the elusive. About the need to disappear and the courage to finally face the past. The film was honored with the Palm Dog Award in Cannes for its unique creation of the canine heroine.
