“WITHOUT END” Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski Poland, 1984, 107 minutes “Bez” (director Krzysztof Kieślowski, 1984) is one of the most moving and ambiguous films in the achievements of the master of Polish cinema. The action takes place during martial law, and the starting point becomes the death of the esteemed lawyer Antoni Zyro. Although the hero leaves, he remains present in the lives of his loved ones and those whom he tried to help. The film intertwines two plots: the drama of a young worker on trial for participation in a strike and the story of Ursula, who, after the death of her husband, tries to find the meaning of life and come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Against the background of the Polish realities of the early 1980s, Kieślowski talks about memory, loneliness, moral choices and disappointment with the reality of martial law. “Bez” is also the beginning of one of the most important collaborations in the history of Polish cinema — from this film Krzysztof Kieślowski created scripts together with Krzysztof Piesiewicz, and the music for his films was composed by Zbigniew Preisner

“Bez” is also the beginning of one of the most important collaborations in the history of Polish cinema — from this film Krzysztof Kieślowski created scripts together with Krzysztof Piesiewicz, and the music for his films was composed by Zbigniew Preisner. At the time of its release, the film caused heated discussions and was criticized both by the authorities of the People's Republic of Poland and part of the opposition circles. Over time, it was recognized as one of the most important testimonies of the social moods of the martial period and a work foreshadowing the metaphysical dimension of Kieślowski's later work. Admission is free. Tickets are now available at the box office of the Rialto Cinema. The number of seats is limited, so we encourage you to pick them up in advance. The remaining pool of tickets will also be available on the day of the event. “Bez fin” will be presented as part of the 3rd Poznań Film Review, which will take place on October 11, 2026 at the Rialto Cinema in Poznań.
