A depressing picture of the Polish political and social reality of the second half of the 1970s, and at the same time a critical diagnosis of attitudes during the oppression by the ruling system. Suddenly abandoned by all, a successful man, a popular reporter (modeled after Ryszard Kapuściński), whose family and professional life is falling apart, is placed in a Kafkaesque situation, losing faith and meaning in life. At work, he is vaccinated by a younger colleague, and at home he hears from his wife that she is filing for divorce.
Zbigniew Zapasiewicz's excellent interpretation gave this character a tragedy, but also a certain ambiguity, signaling his earlier complicity in the benefits of a system that, through an invisible mechanism, allows appanage to be ruthlessly destroyed without warning.
