Insomnia | Splat! FilmFest

After her mother's suicide, two sisters take her place in a wig and mannequin factory to pay off a family debt. At the plant, workers do not sleep, because rest interferes with production. Exhaustion, however, is only the beginning of a nightmare: a dark force lurks in the halls that takes over the bodies of the workers and gruesome mutilates them. “Sleepless” is a disturbing Indonesian body horror in which the struggle for survival becomes a rebellion against exploitation. Edwin builds a stuffy, industrial atmosphere, blurring the line between wakefulness and the beacons of sleep-deprived people. The evocative special effects and surreal images make the factory full of hair, mannequins and regrown limbs stay in the memory for a long time.
