Based on a story by Agnieszka Osiecka
“White Blouse” based on a short story by Agnieszka Osiecka is a story about impossible love, because love for an oppositionist. The story of a woman unable to cope with herself and Poland during the years of martial law. The eponymous white blouse was a dream and a sign of adaptation to life in a country of prohibitions and orders, censorship, opposition, meat slips, certificates from the workplace, evidence, stamps and curfew and political prisoners. A land of lack of freedom, in which the Ulandic fantasy watered down with alcohol, love, friendship and a sense of humor allowed to feel the taste of life. Over time, the show became “cult”, it was played throughout Poland. It looked at young people growing up, who decided that the heroine of Osiecka speaks, thinks and feels like them.
Today, going back to that story means a show dating back to that time. But the heroine — today a mature woman after the transitions — interprets and thinks differently. The same, but in a different color, accentuating the problems differently. The show also tells the new generations, in a way specific to Osiecka, the climate and color of the past time. In the performance, emotions are also narrated with the help of ten most important songs by Agnieszka Osiecka. It is a musical performance illustrated with film materials.
