Enjoy a cozy and inspiring afternoon at the Jewish Museum Berlin! To get started, we invite you to a coffee table with freshly baked yeast braids. The challah, Hebrew for yeast braid, is eaten on Friday evening when Shabbat begins according to the Jewish calendar.
During this culinary treat, we get to know each other, come across the first objects to touch and exchange ideas about what Friday evening means for the participants or which yeast cake is the tastiest.
We then visit the exhibition room People make pictures and look at three paintings from the 19th century together. We either talk about the topics of “chess in the salon” or “partying.”
On the subject of “Chess in the drawing room,” we dive into 18th century Berlin, get to know the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn and salon culture, and ask about the role of the game. The paintings on the theme of “partying” allow us to dive into a private family celebration but also into an extravagant celebration.
Musical accents and objects to feel at the exhibition complement the visit to the exhibition. Seating is provided in the exhibition.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Alzheimer Society Berlin e.V.
