—CHARLES LLOYD, JACOB BRIDGE, LARRY GRENADIER & JORGE ROSSY
Charles Lloyd is one of jazz's greatest living figures — honored as an NEA Jazz Master and a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Already in 1967, he was named “Artist of the Year” by DownBeat, and only in 2024 he again received the same honors. Lloyd was also one of the first jazz musicians to sell over one million copies of a recording with the album Forest Flower. In more recent times, he has resumed his career at ECM Records and later Blue Note, collaborating with Jon Christensen, Bill Frisell, Billy Higgins, Zakir Hussain, Larry Grenadier and Jason Moran.
Charles Lloyd and Jakob Bro have in all obscurity recorded a joint album in Copenhagen with compositions by both of them and a first-class rhythm group consisting of Larry Grenadier on bass and Jorge Rossy on drums, who for many years made a name for himself with Brad Mehldau's trio. The recording took place in connection with Jakob Bro touring with Lloyd on his award-winning album “The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow”, and now they are presenting the new album collaboration for the first time live at a unique concert at Bremen Teater in Copenhagen on 30 November.
BILL FRISELL (SOLO)
Over his more than 50-year career, Grammy-winning guitarist Bill Frisell has released numerous critically acclaimed records across jazz, americana, country, blues and more, collaborating with names such as Paul Motian, Charles Lloyd, John Zorn, Lucinda Williams and Norah Jones. This evening he plays a rare solo concert, duo with Skuli Sverrisson and in two different magnificent ensembles.
ZEENA PARKINS
During a career spanning more than 30 years, Parkins has collaborated with an exceptionally wide range of artists. She has recorded several albums and toured with Björk and Yoko Ono and collaborated with names such as John Zorn, Ikue Mori, Fred Frith, Pauline Oliveros and others.
CRAIG TABORN
As an improviser and solo pianist, Craig Taborn is the recipient of the MacArthur Genius Grant 2025, the largest music grant in the United States, and as an improviser and solo pianist, has created unique sonic universes with a constant exploration of the musical heritage from jazz and hip hop samples to electronic music and new compositional music. On this occasion, one can look forward to experiencing a rare Danish solo concert with Taborn, who specializes in just that with three pure solo albums on ECM: Avenging Angel, Bremen/Lausanne and Shadow Plays.
Craig Taborn has become one of the best jazz pianists alive — by disappearing almost completely into his music. — The New York Times
