Aged trees and shrubs are a mainstay of wildlife — a source of delight, wonder, and careful observation of nature. They accumulate water, give coolness and form organic matter, becoming a refuge for beetles, springtails and protozoa, as well as birds and many other organisms. In July, August and September we will go to the hip to take a closer look at it. Three visits to the park in Królikarnia in the coming months will allow us to see the scale of changes taking place in nature and to better understand the natural rhythm of Warsaw's ecosystems.
The walk will be led by Michał Książek — Polish poet, reporter, cultural scientist, forest engineer and ornithologist. He is the author of books, most recently the Atlas of Holes and Gaps awarded the Literary
Award of the City of Warsaw. The hippos tour is his author's project.
