Written, produced and realized by Black Milk, his ninth solo album CEREMONIAL is a synthesis of all the artist's previous achievements. He combines hip-hop with funk, soul, jazz, electronica and even pop — at the highest level of his career. As a rapper, Black Milk talks about music as a form of healing, about the spiritual dimension of the creative process and the precarious position of the artist in the modern world.
The album features guest artists from the Midwest USA: Saba, BJ the Chicago Kid, Brandon Myster, Ian Fink and Sasha Kashperko.
Over a 20-year career, Black Milk has built an impressive track record as both a rapper and a producer. He achieved his first significant success as a teenager in 2002, when he produced tracks for the legendary Slum Village of Detroit. In the following years he co-created three subsequent albums of the group. His independently released Sound of the City (2005) paved the way for his first record deal and brought him international recognition with his debut album Popular Demand (2007).
Since then, he has released eight more solo albums, four beat tapes, an album of live instrumental music and numerous projects recorded in collaboration with other artists.
