White White

Blanco White is a design by Josh Edwards. The name of the project was inspired by the character of the Spanish writer José María Blanco White.

Originally from London, Josh, at just 10 years old, took a trip to Latin America, which started his fascination with the world of the Spanish language. He studied Spanish at university and then moved to Cádiz, Spain, where he studied flamenco guitar under the guidance of Nono Garcia, and later went to Sucre, Bolivia, to learn the Andean instrument - the charango. Both instruments became key elements of Blanco White's distinctive, somewhat dreamlike sound and work.

The identity of the project has constantly evolved since the first Blanco White releases in 2016, but its fascination with language, surrealism and musical curiosity are invariably present. With the collaboration of Brazilian co-producer Pilo Adami on Tarifa's second album, the rhythm has become increasingly important, which combines with the reverberating and meditative sound of the previous recordings.

Following the release of his debut album On The Other Side in June 2020, Josh took a two-year break from music to recover from a serious neurological illness. Blanco White returned in 2022, performing as a support for Jose Gonzalez and Gregory Alan Isakov on tours in the UK and Europe. This was followed by the release of new music in the form of an intimate EP dedicated to the recovery process - Time Can Prove You Wrong - EP.

Tarifa was released in September 2023, after which the artist embarked on a world tour, including sold-out concerts at The Barbican in London, The Troubadour in Los Angeles, Paradiso in Amsterdam and many other prestigious venues.
