Bleech 9:3 will return to Berlin in May 2027
Between melodic restraint and targeted loss of control, the young Dublin band Bleech 9:3 has built up their characteristic sound, which creates a special pull. With just a handful of songs under their name, they have already earned a reputation as an exciting live band. The quartet is currently on a completely sold-out European tour, with which they recently stopped in Berlin and at the Reeperbahn Festival. It's only logical that they come back to Germany after their successful debut: On May 22, 2027, Bleech will play 9:3 at the Lido in Berlin.
In contrast to other bands, Bleech 9:3 was not created in rustic pubs or at university. Instead, songwriters/guitarists Barry Quinlan and Sam Duffy met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, at a time when both were full of hope for a better future. They quickly discovered their shared love for music and wrote their first songs — the creative foundation of Bleech 9:3 was born. The line-up was completed by James Quinlan (bass) and Luke O'Neill (drums). What began as a fragile creative promise developed within a short period of time into a project to which all four members committed themselves with great consistency. Musically, Bleech 9:3 move between the urgency of Nirvana and Deftones, the emotional depth of Radiohead and the contemporary print of Fontaines D.C. and Sleep Token. Her songs remain unmistakably independent: direct and physical, full of nuances and circling guitars. At the same time, the four draw on inspiration from film and literature and draw on filmmakers such as David Lynch in order to make their sound bigger. “We want to let music live and speak,” says James Quinlan.
On their self-titled debut EP, released in May 2026, they give a first concentrated insight into what makes Bleech 9:3 special. The distinctive sound framework meets introspective, gloomy lyrics. The pieces revolve around addiction, destruction, and loss. But there is also a place for the unspoken interpersonal. With the recently released singles “Figure 8” and “Tourniquet”, the band is opening up space for their next musical chapter.
The band's charisma is particularly evident on stage, which for Bleech 9:3 is not just a place where songs are played. The guitars are getting more rugged, the arrangements are edgier and from the very first sound, the four make it clear that no one will stand still here anymore. Whether in a sweaty club, at big festivals such as the Reading & Leeds Festival or at support slots for bands like Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Wunderhorse: Bleech 9:3 makes every stage its own with its energy. They are now coming to Berlin again for a show in May 2027.
