Bloody Weekend 2026 - Faces of Death

In 1978, perhaps the most controversial film franchise in film history started in the form of Faces of Death: So-called mondo films, which mix real-life film footage of accidents and deaths with staged re-enactments.
Daniel Goldhaber has embraced that idea in his new meta-slasher. Here we meet Margot Romero, a young woman who works on censoring cross-border videos on a TikTok-like media platform. Here she comes across a series of films that seem to re-enact the death scenes from the original Faces of Death films—compelling enough that she decides to investigate the matter further.
The original mondo tapes are taken under loving treatment in Goldhaber's re-imagining, with our protagonist gaining sight of the proceedings to that extent as she sneaks into the nastiest room of gore extremism.
