Bloody Weekend 2026 - Ghost in the Cell

There are cinematic fireworks in the air in Joko Anwar's latest genre opus, which invites us inside a notorious Indonesian prison.
In Labuhan Angsana Prison, every day is a struggle for survival between hardened gangsters, corrupt guards and a tyrannical warden. When a string of unexplained murders begins to haunt the inmates, they must realize they are facing supernatural forces. Survival will require a previously unimaginable alliance between inmates and guards -- as well as spontaneous dance-offs, ballet-like fist fights and impromptu prayers.
The film was a sensation at this year's Berlinale and for good reason, with Ghost in the Cell, Joko Anwar has created a grotesque horror comedy that manages to balance brusque brutality, political satire and slapstick — a bonanza for any horror action fan!
