Genre: Adult Performance
How the fine line between culture and chaos breaks down in one evening.
Yasmina Reza's famous Tony Award-winning play, adapted for the film by Roman Polanski, returns to the stage in a new interpretation.
This is a rare opportunity to see ruthless, precise and extremely funny art about human nature, which is more relevant today than ever. Spend an evening in the theater and appreciate the depth of this ironic and dynamic story.
It all starts with a banal incident: two boys beat each other in the yard, and one of them knocks out a couple of teeth for the other.
Their parents — two reserved, successful and well-mannered couples — meet in the living room to discuss the incident like adults. However, civilized conversation quickly breaks down. Coffee gives way to strong alcohol, impeccable manners - open hostility, and adults turn into the same warriors whose interests they came to defend. Within an hour and a half, relationships in pairs break up and are reborn, and the participants lose the semblance of socialization.
The production of directors Jelena Chazanova and Georges Guerreiro combines theatrical dynamics with expressive cinematic language. At the center of this moving tragicomedy is an excellent cast: Alexander Kuznetsov, Maria Mashkova, Arthur Smolyaninov and Maria Shalayeva. Together they play a virtuoso psychological battle over how easily the facade of well-being can be shattered when true instincts are revealed.
The famous play by Yasmina Reza, awarded the premiere of the Tony Award and screened by Romano Polanski, returns to the underworld in a new reading.
This is a rare opportunity to see a heartless, accurate and incredibly funny spectacle about human nature, which sounds more relevant every day than ever. Spend this evening in the theater and appreciate how deep this ironic and dynamic story is.
It all starts with a banal incident: two little ones grew up in the yard, and one knocked out another pair of teeth.
Their parents — two restrained, successful and well-mannered couples — gather in a guest room to discuss what will happen to the grown-up. A rather civilized conversation quickly falls into a rut. Coffee is replaced by strong alcohol, impeccable manners are an open enemy, and adult people turn into the very drachuns, whose interests they have come to deviate from. For half an hour, the unions within the couple break down and are stored again, and with the participants of the meeting, the whole search for socialization comes down.
The production by directors Elena Hazanova and Jorge Guerrero combines theatrical dynamics with an expressive cinematographic language. In the center of this sharp tragicomedy is a sound ensemble: Alexander Kuznetsov, Maria Mashkova, Arthur Smolyaninov and Maria Shalaeva. Instead, they play out a virtuoso psychological duel about how the facade of well-being is easily destroyed when the present instincts come on the scene.
