About the event

On a September morning in 1844, a young emigrant from Bavaria disembarks in the harbor of New York, dreaming of a new life in a new world. Soon two brothers join him — and so an American dream is born that will change the face of the world for more than a century and a half. From a small shop, a financial empire is created. Lehman Brothers becomes a symbol of success, ambition and unlimited growth — until 163 years later, its collapse sets in motion the greatest financial crisis of modern times.

“The Lehman Brothers” is a tale spanning nearly two centuries of history: from emigrant hope to global catastrophe. The play shows the birth, power and defeat of Western capitalism, seen through the lens of the fate of one family. It is a story in which tradition collides with modernity, values with the ruthless rules of the market, religion with the cult of money, and family ties with unbridled ambition.

Strobe lights are used in the performance
