Blues, Folk, Indie Rock, Jazz, Soul

Blues phenomenon, Bror Gunnar Jansson, is ready to explore new musical territories with his band The Escapeism på Floppen on October 24th at Floppen! Come and see what happens when a blues musician dips his toes into 70's soul!

Bror Gunnar Jansson explores new musical territories with his project Bror Gunnar Jansson & the Escapism. The debut album People, co-produced by Christopher Cantillo of Dina Ögon, marks a distinct step towards 1970s soul. The album draws inspiration from artists such as Curtis Mayfield and Otis Redding and spices the phrase with elements of contemporary neo-soul.

With her powerful vocals, Jansson sings about vulnerability and marginalization, challenging those in power and focusing on how history is repeating itself. Still, the music never becomes lecturing or heavy. On the contrary, its deep groove draws the listener in. Like the best soul, the beauty of the music doesn't contrast with the seriousness of the themes -- it amplifies them.

On stage, Bror Gunnar Jansson & the Escapism performs with a band that includes members from Little Dragon, bringing the album's warm, soulful sound alive to the audience.
