Karol Radziszewski's exhibition “Dirty Pages” explores the theme of queer archives of Central and Eastern Europe. It focuses on DIK Fagazine magazine, which has been combining art, queer, archives and independent culture for more than two decades. Guided by the logic of publication, the exhibition treats it not as a closed object, but as a space for the production of knowledge, desire and resistance. The exhibition will feature works by Anatoly Belov, Martin Falck, Károly Hopp-Halasz, Ryszard Kisiel, Katarzyna Kozyra, Pipqa, Karol Radziszewski, Anton Shabetko, Sergey Shabohin, Monika Zawadzka and Mária Takács.
The title refers both to the materiality of print and to what has been considered “dirty” for years: pornography, homosexuality, marginal publications, and stories pushed beyond the official archives. In the center of the exhibition are magazines, photographs, polaroids and private collections of Radziszewski, as well as works by other artists, which become testimonies of desire and memory.
In Radziszewski's work, eroticism is intertwined with the archive, and the body with politics. “Dirty Pages” looks at the tension between private experience and official memory, showing how images, publications and ephemeral material can be tools for reclaiming history and building a queer world.
It is a story about how on the margins — geographical, social, sexual and political — alternative ways of writing history are created.
