Join artist and facilitator Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq for a Deaf-led tour of ‘The Coming of Age’ exhibition.

About the event

Join artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq for a Deaf-led tour of ‘The Coming of Age’. She will guide you through selected objects and themes in the exhibition, including adolescence and how experiences of age vary across cultures and societies.

Our new exhibition explores experiences and perceptions of ageing, from adolescence to older age, and asks how societies can adapt to ensure everyone ages better.

The tour will be delivered in British Sign Language (BSL), with no voiceover or audio. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions and share your perspectives. All commentary and conversation will take place in BSL.

We’ll meet at the Information Point, which is on level 0, directly in front of you as you enter Wellcome Collection.

This event will be delivered in British Sign Language.

Rubbena is a London-based Muslim Deaf Pakistani-British artist. Primarily a painter and installation artist, she also uses film and animation to explore intersecting identities across cultures, and the dynamic relationship between language and lived experience. She has worked with both Deaf and hearing communities, leading art workshops and BSL tours for organisations including the Hayward Gallery, Wallace Collection and The King's Gallery. Rubbena has exhibited in New York, Washington DC, London, Paris, South Korea and Canada.
