BE LIKE CHARLIE CHAPLIN

“To Be Like Charlie Chaplin” is a daring attempt to confront the legend of silent cinema. The most famous comedian of black and white film became an icon of pop culture a very long time ago. His hallmarks were a bowler, a cane and a characteristic mustache, although to this day we do not know who he was from and where this brilliant actor, screenwriter and director was born.

The original screenplay by Piotr Wyszomirski, written in a contemporary language, confronts Chaplin's person and work with the condition of today's actor. It touches on non-obvious topics, without shying away from a critical view of reality. The text in the form of a monodrama was prepared for a specific actor and gives a wide field to show his stage capabilities.

“To be like Charlie Chaplin” is a volcano of energy in which Mateusz Deskiewicz shows the full range of his abilities: he dances, sings, touches, laughs and provokes reflection.

The performance was shown at both domestic and foreign theater festivals, including in the USA (Chicago), Armenia (Yerevan), Ukraine (Kiev) and Lithuania (Vilnius, Visaginas).
