For a quarter of a century, Callejon has stood for German-language metalcore.

As pioneers, they broke genre boundaries, reinvented themselves several times and yet remained true to themselves and their distinctive style. That may sound paradoxical, but it is precisely this constant development that fuels their consistency - all of this resulted in over 1000 concerts, 7 top ten placements in a row and no less than the imprint of German-language metal.

The visual style was and is meaningful for Callejon: From day one on, frontman and artist BastiBasti (Bastian Sobtzick) is responsible for all artworks, concepts and almost all music videos.

Callejon was always more than just metal, more than just sound. Callejon is almost an attitude. A longing that never ends, a source of inspiration, a journey, a story.

On 01.01.2027, Callejon's eleventh studio album “Das Herz ist schwer” will now be released, which describes BastiBasti in terms of content as follows:

“We are on the threshold of dusty feelings and identities. Ahead of us is a wave of obscure promises, despots, tech giants, A.I. and wars.

The old fairy tales of the demons of our childhood, packed in colorful comics back then, come true, climb out of their graves and crave for our intellect.

They're testing everything we've believed in up to this point.

The result: Feelings become deeper and love becomes more real — because it threatens to disappear. Our hearts are heavy. Just like most people's during this time.

This album is a coping strategy with the dark present and an even more sinister future. ”

Callejon return to the roots of the funeral cafe, absorbing the spirit of their old influences and pouring it all into a perfect form. Full of bursting emotion, strangely tragic lyrics, black humor and handwriting that make Callejon unique.

For “Das Herz ist schwer”, Callejon relied on uncompromisingly full analog production: “That was the only way for us to sound like ourselves and not like a simulation. Such an album literally cried out for character, depth and imperfection in the best sense of the word. ”
