Formed in Toronto in 2001, Career Suicide plays uncompromising hardcore punk with distinct roots in the early American hardcore of the 1980s. The band's music is fast, raw and direct, pulling traces back to the first wave of punk and North American garage rock.
At its centre stand guitarist Jonah Falco and lead singer Martin Farkas. Falco is additionally known as the drummer in Fucked Up, which ties Career Suicide closely to Toronto's hardcore and punk scene. Over the years, the band has had a wide variety of members, but have maintained the cashed-up and unpolished approach that has characterized them since the beginning.
After the initial demos and the self-titled debut, a series of EPs and releases followed. The album 'Attempted Suicide' was released in 2006, while 'Machine Response' followed in 2017. The band has additionally toured extensively in North America, Europe and Japan.
Career Suicide belongs to the section of hardcore punk where tempo, short songs and a sharp DIY aesthetic are weighted higher than polished production. The music points back towards the hardcore genre's early years without acting as pure retro. After more than two decades, the band remains part of the international punk underground.
