The New Year is worth starting in style!
The Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Stanley Dodds invites you to a unique New Year's Concert — an evening inspired by the famous Viennese tradition, full of brilliance, elegance and timeless melodies. The programme will feature Johann Strauss's most beautiful waltzes and Poles with masterpieces of opera, operetta and symphonic music, creating a concert full of joy, emotion and New Year's atmosphere.
The audience will hear the most famous opera arias, among them the touching “O mio babbino caro” from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini, the lyrical “Song to the Moon” from Antonín Dvořák's opera Rusałek, the legendary aria “Nessun dorma” from the opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini and the timeless “Summertime” George Gershwin. There will also be works by Stanisław Moniuszko, whose work, along with the greatest masterpieces of the world repertoire, will occupy an important place in the concert program.
The evening will be rounded off by graceful opera and operetta duets, including the romantic “O soave fanciulla” from Puccini's Bohemian, a glamorous duet from Emmerich Kálmán's Princess of the Czardo and the famous toast “Libiamo ne' lieti calici” from Traviata Verdi.
An integral element of the New Year's concert will also be dazzling orchestral works. In addition to the overture to “Revenge of the Bat”, the waltz “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” and the brilliant Poles of Johann Strauss, the exuberant dances of Antonín Dvořák and Johannes Brahms, as well as impressive compositions by Stanisław Moniuszko, including the famous Mazur from “Halka” will sound.
On stage we will hear two exceptional voices — Iwona Sobotka and Tadeusz Szlenkier.
