We invite you to an extraordinary concert of the Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra, which will take listeners into the world of Nordic legends, poetic stories and music inspired by the harsh beauty of the North. Under the baton of Krzysztof Kostrzewski, the works of two outstanding Scandinavian composers - Edvard Grieg and Lars-Erik Larsson - will sound.
The first part of the evening will be filled with music for one of the most famous dramas of world literature — Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt in a symphonic arrangement by Edvard Grieg. Two orchestral suites guide listeners through an extraordinary journey full of fairytale images, emotions and contrasts: from the lyrical beauty of Norwegian landscapes, through the mysterious world of fantasy, to the dramatic and energetic stage.
In the second part of the concert, Lars-Erik Larsson's “Förklädd Gud” (“God in Disguise”) will sound — a unique work combining orchestra, solo voices, choir and narration. Inspired by the poetry of Hjalmar Gullberg, the composition tells about the divinity hidden in everyday life and reminds us that the extraordinary can be hidden in seemingly ordinary moments and encounters with other people. Full of warmth, reflection and noble beauty, Larsson's music is one of the most important achievements of the Swedish repertoire of the 20th century.
The concert will feature outstanding soloists: Kacper Kostrzewski — baritone and Anna Wójcik — soprano, as well as choir and narrator.
“Tales of the North” is an evening of musical stories — an encounter with the culture of Scandinavia, in which nature, myth and human emotions create an extremely suggestive world of sounds. It is a concert full of poetry, colors and emotions, showing the power of the symphony orchestra in its most painterly version.
