About the event

The Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maciej Tomasiewicz invites you to a concert dedicated to the masterpieces of Romanticism — music full of drama, lyricism and symphonic momentum. “Romantic Landscapes” is an evening full of emotion, virtuoso violins and the powerful sound of the orchestra — from Verdi's operatic drama, through Mendelssohn's subtlety, to Brahms's monumental finale.

The concert will be opened by Giuseppe Verdi's spectacular overture to the opera Sicilian Vespers. It is music full of theatrical energy, contrasts and melodiousness characteristic of Verdi, introducing listeners to the world of operatic emotions and tensions.

This will be followed by one of the most outstanding violin works of the 19th century, Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor Op. 64. The work impresses with its lightness of form, the sonority of the themes and a subtle combination of virtuosity with a poetic mood. Solo parts will be performed by Krzysztof Katana.

After the break, the orchestra will present Johannes Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, a work full of warmth, harmony and pastoral character. Often described as the most serene of Brahms's works, the symphony combines classical form with romantic expression, leading the listener from lyrical reflections to a monumental finale.

This is an evening where operatic drama meets romantic cantillery and symphonic pomp, a concert full of emotion, beautiful melodies and masterful orchestration.
