The Danish alternative pop sprout, CEVIL, will take on the Flea with its debut album 'Favourite Girl' on 31 October!
CEVIL writes, produces and shapes its own sonic universe with an uncompromising approach where distorted guitars tear at the surface and mechanical beats pulsate beneath compressed electronic layers. It's raw, cinematic and emotional, with hooks that bite and productions that push to the limits of what pop can sound like. It's magnificent -- often with a twinkle in its eye and a desire to challenge the clichés.
The text universe revolves around her own observations of the world and her place in it as a woman, as a young person, and as an artist. Her upcoming debut album 'Favourite Girl' explores this particular field of tension with both seriousness and irony. CEVIL finds inspiration in everything from branderts and breakups to reflections on growing up, relationships and toxic dynamics. It's all filtered through a look that tries to make sense of the world without making it too neat in the process.
CEVIL has marked itself as one of the most promising names on the Danish scene. She receives praises by Politiken, GAFFA, Soundvenue and the German KALTBLUT Magazine, and her songs are played on P3 and P6 as well as charter on the German campus radio.
Live, CEVIL is known for its playful and catchy approach to events and aesthetics. It is widely agreed that she is one of the strongest new names on the Danish live scene — a position she has cemented through concerts at, among others, SPOT Festival, VEGA, Distortion, Det Kongelige Teater as support for The Raveonettes. Now she hits the Flea in connection with the release of her debut album on October 31st!
