About the event

The author of “Chamov” is one of the most outstanding contemporary poets and writers, Miron Białoszewski, an original and outsider. In the middle of 1975 he moved from the center of Warsaw to the other side of the Vistula River, to Saska Kępa. But not the historical one, passed from the pre-war period as the district of the Warsaw intelligentsia, but to one of the new so-called Gierkow blocks. The old inhabitants of Saska Kępa quickly gave this addition from the big plate a somewhat contemptuous name of Chamow. Białoszewski got used to the new place for a long time, and he devoted his notes and reflections under the same title to this familiarization. We accompany him on walks on the floors of a austere building, public offices, unfamiliar Prague. From his apartment in Lisbon he made himself an asylum, where he invited friends, with whom he tried to arrange his life on the margins of politics prevailing everywhere. Could there be any lesson for us living in the troubled times of Putin and Trump today? And how!

Mikołaj Grabowski's performance will be — as in his theatre
— full of staging and acting energy, with a lot of classical and
contemporary music, of which Białoszewski was a great enthusiast.

The show is recommended for viewers from the age of 16.

Media patrons: RMF Classic and TVP Kultura.

The performance used a fragment of the documentary film “On Modern Construction” — directed by Wiesław Drymer (produced 1973, Educational Film Production Company in Łódź)
