Chanel Beads First of all: Yes, Chanel Beads' second album, Your Day Will Come, has the same title as the debut of the experimental project from 2024, but this is a completely new work — not a second part, not a new edition and not a remake. What was initially intended as a playful side-swipe at the habit of dividing music into clearly defined chapters took on a deeper meaning for Shane Lavers during songwriting. The title began to reflect the conflict between certainty and doubt, which preoccupied him intensively. Although the words seem decisive at first, even a slight shift in emphasis opens up unsettling questions: Will your day come? What will it look like? And where can you be sure of?
About the event
Growing up in the suburbs of Minnesota, Lavers began releasing music in Seattle in 2016 under the name Chanel Beads. When he wasn't working in a library for blind people, he combined synthetic sounds and acoustic instruments to create fascinating songs that consistently defied genre classification. He lived in New York until 2022, where pieces such as Ef and True Altruism attracted attention in certain online circles — with their androgynous voices, their peculiar artificial aesthetics and at the same time touching intimacy. Since this impressive start, Chanel Beads has evolved from gigs in living rooms and illegal concerts in abandoned railroad tunnels to a role as a support act on Lorde's recent North American arena tour.
Even though the stages have grown bigger, the spirit of Chanel Beads is firmly rooted in the underground. Your Day Will Come was created in Lavers' small, sparsely furnished studio in Brooklyn.
Urika's bedroom Urika's bedroom is the alter ego of Los Angeles-based bedroom-pop musician Tchad Cousins.
