How do you imagine Scottish Glasgow during the politically and socially complicated 1990s? Protestants and Catholics, fight and flight, rage and honor, or maybe... love and empathy? What will young boys who are raised in environments that seemingly have nothing in common will they choose? Director Krzysztof Zygucki and playwright Eugenia Balakireva bring the poignant story of growing up in the shadow of violence and the cold of poverty to the theatre, inspired by Douglas Stuart's acclaimed novel “Young Mungo” and the sixteenth-century gay pastoral idyll “The Beautiful Shepherd” by Jacques de Fontany. Before us is the story of the dispute between masculinity and boyhood, of violent patriarchy with emancipating queerness. Is it worth fighting for a better world? And is it possible to fight... without a fight?
