Director Wojciech Kościelniak about the play: I often hear the question why the peasants? Three factors were decisive: good literature, well-constructed characters and a very interesting conflict. It is in the PEASANTS of Reymont that we find all that characterizes society and the individual of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is a story of human maturation to the wisdom and perfection of the nature around us. As in the mirror, the Polish mentality is reflected, so characteristic and recognizable that it is common to all Poles. We live in a time when nations seek their separateness, we too begin to boast of what is ours and unique.
Collective scenes are a true directorial and choreographic masterpiece (A. Kyzioł, Polityka)
High-quality pop that I can show to both my daughter and mom. I will not torment them and I will not get bored myself. Art is valuable to me when it creates a platform where very different people can meet. Wojciech Kościelniak's DOLL and CHŁOPI at the Gdynia Music Theatre is a good example (D. Masłowska)
The next production in Gdynia will go down in the history of the Polish theater. (K. Wysocka, Gazeta Świętojańska)
The peasants of Kościelniak/Dziubka are Polish “Miserables”. (Mr. Nowak, Gazeta Wyborcza)
Peasants directed by Kościelniak is a story about us “here and now”. In each of us there is a part of this small community that stands guard over its values, habits and traditions, and at the same time plunges into schizophrenic falsehood. The clergyman reminded us of this bluntly and successfully. He again put a large mirror on the stage of the Musical Theater, in which everyone can see himself without problems. (P. Sobierski, Blizza)
With english subtitles In the performance we use pyrotechnic effects.
