About the event

An outstanding Polish pianist, winner of the 40th National Chopin Competition in Warsaw and the International Carnegie Hall Concerto Debut Piano Competition in New York, who has been performing all over the world for years, called “the contemporary incarnation of Chopin” by influential Japanese critics, plans a major European concert tour entitled “Chopin — The Piano Poet” in 2027. Tickets for Grzegorz Niemczuk's piano recital are now on sale.

“Chopin — The Piano Poet” — extraordinary piano recital: music and the word

This program will be played in the largest concert halls, among others: Paris, London, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Helsinki, Reykjavik, Salzburg, Lucerne, Barcelona, many cities in Norway and in many places in Poland.

Niemczuk's proposal is to meet Chopin's music through music and words. The pianist will not only perform the composer's masterpieces, but will also tell about their origin, historical context, inspirations and hidden meanings. Between the pieces he will share fascinating stories, curiosities and reflections that will allow the audience to enter deeper into Chopin's world.

This is what the artist himself says about the program:

“The poetry in Chopin's music manifests itself in a multidimensional and multifaceted way, which I will try to show in this program. Poetry about longing and love in Nocturne Op. 9, Nocturne in C minor or Mazurku in A minor, poetry full of energy and drama in etudes, or Scherz in B minor, musical epic such as Ballad in G minor, poetry danced in waltzes and patriotic poetry in the most famous polonaises”.

Thanks to this, listeners discover familiar works anew. Even people who know this music perfectly often say after the concert that they heard it differently — fuller, deeper, more consciously.

The recital “Chopin — Piano Poet” is a unique journey into the poetic soul and imagination of Chopin — an evening in which music and story intertwine to bring the composer's genius closer to every listener.

Grzegorz Niemczuk

Grzegorz Niemczuk — individualist, classical pianist, who goes his own way, thanks to which, often complicated classical music finds its way “under the thatches”. He has the unique gift of talking about difficult topics in a simple and accessible way for everyone. During the concert, he removes the barrier of the artist-audience, gains the sympathy of the listeners by standing on their side, understanding their desire to actively participate in the musical performance. This original idea for piano recitals is a kind of phenomenon in Poland, Europe and around the world, including in the most prestigious concert halls.

Since 2024, the pianist has been an annual guest in halls famous for their demanding audience, such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig or the Stadtcasino in Basel. As a polyglot he performs in 9 languages (Polish, English, Czech, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Norwegian).

Grzegorz Niemczuk treats his fans like family members, building lasting relationships with them. Thanks to the pandemic project of films — lectures on the music of Fryderyk Chopin, watched by hundreds of thousands of people around the world, Grzegorz Niemczuk became an ambassador for the music of the Polish genius.

In his youth, the winner of many competitions (including the National Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2010 and the International Carnegie Hall Concerto Debut Competition in New York in 2013) is currently collecting fantastic reviews from esteemed music critics (Michael Sherwin, New York — “variety of colors and dazzling virtuosity”, Nobuko Fujimaki, Tokyo — “contemporary art. Chopin's incarnation”, Werner Kopfmüller, Leipzig — “boyish charm, sophisticated, individual interpretation”).

Grzegorz Niemczuk's musical guides were eminent pianists and educators, such as: Józef Stompel (distinction in the International Chopin Competition 1960), Alexei Orłowiecki (in the past assistant to Grigory Sokolov himself), Arie Vardi (teacher of Lang Lang, Yundi Li, Boris Giltburg or Alexander Gavryluk). Jeffrey Swann (revelation and winner of the Critics' Prize at the 1970 Chopin Competition), David Dubal (friend of Vladimir Horowitz himself) and Chong-Mo Kang (Korean pianist whose repertoire includes a set of works by J.S.Bach).

As an independent and individual artist, he decides where and when he plays, which is a huge rarity in the world of classical music. He himself also arranges the programs of his concerts, always deeply thought out and attractive to the audience.
