Chopiniana/ Between Voices

PART I

In Part I, we invite you to the performance entitled Chopiniana, realized within the International Cooperation of the Faculty of Ballet of the M. K. Čiurlionis National School of Fine Arts in Vilnius and the National Ballet School Im. Janina Jarzynówny-Sobczak in Gdańsk.

Chopiniana is a one-act romantic ballet created in 1908 by choreographer and innovator Mikhail Fokin to the music of Fryderyk Chopin. It is a mosaic of dreams, visions and romantic dreams of the main character expressed through the delightful dance of sylphs. Ballet, known for its poetic and emotional expression, develops through variations full of dreamy mood and romanticism, filled with freedom of spirit and feelings.

PART II

In the second part of the concert we invite you to the PREMIERE performance choreographed by Julia Weber-Ciesielska entitled Between the Voices.

Between Voices is a meeting of musical and human voices. Each of them has its own character, energy and emotionality - from lightness, fun and exuberance, through tension and anxiety to melancholy and reverie. The movement follows the changing voices, allowing the music to shape its quality, rhythm and dynamics. Subsequent images become meetings of different personalities, states and experiences - once individual, other times common. The show does not tell a single story. It is a space where different voices can sound side by side — like different stages, experiences and perspectives. Dialogue is born between voices - between music and gesture, individual and community, silence and sound.
