Marzahn — for many a synonym for focal point, decline and social invisibility. But what was once the largest prefabricated housing estate in the GDR and a prestigious socialist project is so much more than its media reputation. In her “middle years,” author Katja Oskamp decided to start over here: She becomes a podiatrist. At work, she listens to the people who come to her and begins to write down their stories — stories full of strength, wit and warmth. East Berliner and actress Christiane Paul, internationally known from film and television as well as an Emmy Award winner, is bringing Katja Oskamp's Berlin novel to the big stage as a reading — and in doing so puts the image of Marzahn from head to toe.
