Flesh and blood, symbols of life and death, of the natural and the sacred. But whose flesh and blood? The body of a woman for a very long time belonged not only to her. Subjected to patriarchal control, customary and religious prohibitions and precepts, treated as a commodity by the capitalist system, pushed into the realm of taboo, it was at once the object of male desire and female shame. The female blood belonged to a different category than the blood oozing from the wound of the male protagonist. This is “impure” blood, the color of which was even taken away, replacing red with blue in advertisements. The experiences of half of humanity, both ordinary and particularly difficult, are too often constantly considered unworthy of disclosure, silenced and concealed. There is nothing to talk about, which, at most, is whispered, the women will tell in the play “Body and Blood” directed by Iwona Kempa. They will tell about the experiences of female bodies and female blood from a female perspective.
