The young, introverted Cáit moves in with her relatives in the countryside, where she experiences for the first time a closeness that changes her view of the world.

Silent Girl is the story of a 9-year-old Cáit who lives in a large, poor family. After her mother becomes pregnant again, the girl goes to her relatives in the countryside. The hitherto closed, somewhat dimmed Cáit begins to open up to the world and explore the secrets of her new home. Awarded at the Berlinale, the film sets the atmosphere in an extraordinary way, works brilliantly with understatement and mesmerizes with the work of the camera. It is a warm, poignant story about the unobvious, building bonds between a child and an adult, as well as the innocence of childhood.
