The acclaimed film director Salvatore Di Vita (Jacques Perrin) receives a phone call one night. The news he hears will start an avalanche of nostalgic memories, the link of which will be the cinema. It was there after World War II that little Totò (Salvatore Cascio) memorably fell in love with the magic of “moving images”. The boy wants only one thing: to befriend the cinematographer Alfredo (Philippe Noiret). However, this task will be more difficult than he thinks. The eponymous “Cinema Paradiso” — its incredible and equally peculiar audience and rich repertoire — will become the backdrop for the unforgettable adventures of the protagonist growing up in the Sicilian province, his first “great love”, until he leaves his hometown.
“Cinema Paradiso” remains to this day the most beautiful “love letter to cinema” ever written on film tape. This timeless tale of friendship, dreams, growing up and a great fascination with the X Muse has captured the hearts of viewers around the world.
