City on Fire

Ringo Lam's well-oiled Hong Kong action drama starring Chow Yun-fat inspired Quentin Tarantino's famous debut 'Reservoir Dogs' and is considered by many to be an invaluable representative of the “Heist gone wrong” subgenre.

At the center of 'City on Fire' is a burned-out police officer who works undercover. He wants to retire and marry his girlfriend, but the boss persuades him to take on one last task: infiltrating a ruthless gang of jewel thieves. The officer gains the gang's trust, but is gradually caught in a moral dilemma as his loyalties shift towards his criminal “friends” — especially because other police departments (who don't know he's undercover) begin to hunt him down as a true criminal.
