Life on Earth is possible because of our planet's hospitable atmosphere. As we've explored the Solar System, we've come to realise just how valuable it is.
This lecture looks at what we've learned about atmospheres, from Titan's hydrocarbon rich haze to the distant planets where it rains iron. With such diversity in evidence, we ask how common Earth-like atmospheres can really be, and consider our planet's future.
