About the event

The great return of Mike Mills, creator of the unforgettable “Debutants”, as well as the spectacular return to the screens of Joaquin Phoenix, who in “C'mon C'mon” played his first since

“Joker”; the role, surprising and completely redefining its image. His hero - Johnny, a radio journalist - learns to listen carefully, build lasting bonds, fix the mistakes of the past and... hug. Mills' intimate, tender black-and-white film builds bridges between generations, reassures and sticks patches on our most grievous wounds.

Phoenix portrays “C'mon C'mon” in a New York single, a charming, warm journalist who travels America with a microphone, asking kids and teens about their lives, dreams,

superpowers and plans for the future. Along the way, the reporter visits a sister (Gaby Hoffman) who lives in Los Angeles, whom he hasn't spoken to in years, and who now needs his help. To

To support her in caring for her nine-year-old son (Woody Norman), Johnny takes him with him to New York. The journey together will prove to be a lesson in patience, responsibility and simply: the adulthood that the journalist has so far avoided. It will also allow him to understand that the real superpowers are those that mothers wield.

Phoenix, Hoffman and Norman form a phenomenal, flawlessly matched trio on screen, and Woody Norman's delightful naturalness is a phenomenon that has not been seen in cinema for years. Not surprisingly, there is increasing talk of an Oscar for the boy debuting in “C'mon C'mon”. Mike Mills' moving film, by the way, deserved more nominations. It is the best possible response to the anxiety and uncertainty of our time. Attentive, warm, centered around the most important relationships, “C'mon C'mon” has a therapeutic effect: it teaches mutual care, to show emotions, to sew up torn bonds. It also proves that the younger generation, which we so willingly accuse of selfishness, has much more to offer us than we think. All you have to do is listen carefully to these kids. They are the future.
