About the event

Welcome to CoderDojo at The Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre!

CoderDojo is a free coding club for young people aged between 7 and 17 who are interested in programming.

The monthly club consists of 90 minutes of programming, during which you can take part in specially designed coding activities inspired by our vast collection. In the final 30mins of the session, you will be able to share and present your projects with your peers.

Our knowledgeable and friendly mentors will support you while you try out different tasks and activities. Create projects in Scratch, Python, HTML and more: no matter if you are a programming master or a total beginner, everyone is welcome in this club.

Can’t make it after all? Please drop us an email at bookings@rmg.co.uk, so we can pass your place on to someone else. We really appreciate it.

Please bring a laptop and charger for your child to work on if possible. We do have some spare equipment and advise you make arrangements to use it in advance by emailing ppmcc@rmg.co.uk.

You may also want to bring a notepad and a pencil, to jot down ideas or any usernames/passwords created during the session.

We do provide light refreshments such as juice, hot drinks, fruit and biscuits free of charge but you may want to bring your own.

A lot of our older ninjas enjoy the dojo as much as the little ones and stay for the whole session. If your child is under the age of 13, then you will need to stay with them for the duration of the Dojo.

For children over the age of 13, it is recommended that a parent/guardian remains nearby and can be easily reached by phone. This is in the interests of safeguarding.

Parents and guardians can help in many ways, from helping to set up the room or snack table to managing administration or becoming a mentor themselves. Some parents choose to help promote their local Dojo by designing and distributing flyers and other promotional material.

If you are over 18 and feel that you can help out once a month please declare your interest with our volunteer manager on volunteers@rmg.co.uk

Sessions will normally be held in the learning space at The Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre, Kidbrooke, Nelson Mandela Rd, London SE3 9QS
