Meet Art Spiegelman, Bjarke Ingels, Coco, Karoline Stjernfelt and Liv Strömquist as well as a number of other international and Danish creators and specialists for a conversation about the comic and the commentating drawing as a form of literature and art both before, now and in the future.
COMICS — PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE puts the comic and the commentating drawing on the agenda as a form of literature and art both in its own right and in a wider cultural context. Here you can experience some of the great international names in the form of expression in debate and conversation with critics, publishers, editors and specialists from other fields.
The comic and the more than 200-year history of commentary drawing is examined to better understand its position as a form of art and expression today, in a rapidly changing cultural field increasingly characterised by digitisation and artificial intelligence.
The symposium is organized by Rackham, who for a quarter of a century has published criticism, organized exhibitions and engaged in the dissemination of comics and magazine drawing, in recent years in the form of the podcast Radio Rackham. They have been involved in the foundation of the Danish Cartoon Council and the comics magazine Number9 in 2009 and of the Ping Prize in 2012.
Note: Participant names are updated continuously, the final program is expected to be ready in October. The event takes place in English.
