About the event

This rehearsed reading is brought to you by CULTIVATE, Riverside Studios' new programme bringing the best of brand-new theatre to the stage for the first time. These plays have been carefully selected by Riverside Studios team as showing exceptional promise.

Set in 2011 in South London, When it Snows in April by Chantelle Alle is a Black-British coming-of-age love story. The play explores the raw journey of two young people as they navigate grief. April is guarded, observant, and solitary; Francis is ambitious, charming, and inquisitive. What binds them is the quiet ache and weighted grief of losing loved ones. Told through intimate dialogue and poetic rhythm, this two-hander takes us through a period of love, loss, and growth within an environment rife with social pressures. When It Snows in April asks how we carry the people we lose, and what it means to hold on - and when to let go.

Age recommendation: 12+

CULTIVATE is a programme for theatre writers who are typically underrepresented in the theatre industry, we rely on generous donations from our patrons to keep the programme alive, if you are interested in making a donation, you can do so here.
